What to bring:  In addition to your hiking equipment (and bug repellant), if you have outdoor lawn chairs, they would be appreciated. 

Directions to Skaars’ house:                                                                             

From the NYS Thruway coming north

1.      Take Exit 20, Saugerties.

2.      After the toll booth, get in the left lane to turn left onto Route 212 (

3.      cars in the right lane may also turn left, but the road splits, and the right lane goes north onto Route 32.)

4.      From the traffic light in front of the Hess gas station, go 2 miles.  The Centerville Fire Department will be on your left, and County Route 35 splits off Route 212 to the right.  Bear right onto County Route 35.

5.      You will now drive about 2.8 miles, always bearing left wherever there is any option. 

6.      After about 2.8 miles, you will see Van Buskirk Road on your right.  Mary Ann Avenue – your destination street – is the next road on your right.

7.      Turn right on Mary Ann Avenue.  Go about a ½ mile.

8.      Ted and Lou’s house, #62, on the right side of Mary Ann Avenue, is a gray ranch with blue shutters and a semi-circular driveway.

From Route 28 coming east

1.      Turn left onto Route 375 towards Woodstock.

2.      Where Route 375 deadends into Route 212, turn right, taking Route 212 towards Saugerties.

3.      At the Centerville Firehouse, approximately 7 miles, turn left onto County Route 35.

4. Follow the directions above numbers 4 through 7
